No Child Left Behind and current Idaho legislation require the use of standards in education.

Teaching with Standards directly addresses this major shift in education. Designed around the concept that state standards, skills, and curriculum content are more closely aligned to the intended student outcome, this course gives participants an opportunity to take existing curricula and blend it with suitable standards and skills that will positively effect student achievement. No matter what the curricular content happens to be, this course adapts to meet them all. This course will provide the theory, ideas, and practice that will allow participants to blend the standards and skills into the teaching process. Teaching with Standards will also teach participants how to assess student achievement, using both the ISAT data and their own individual teacher data in the context of standards and how they co-exist in the best interest of student achievement.

This course is offered in a unique way to best meet the needs of the participants. Participants will meet together for one day of intense instruction and practice. After that, those who desire credit will complete the required work electronically within six weeks.
